“Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your eyes directly before you.” Prov 4:25
“… my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” Isa 6:5
My wife and I recently saw the movie, “Son of God”. As I watched the film I wondered how the filmmaker was going to end the movie. I “read the book”; I knew how it ends with the joyful resurrection of Jesus from the grave. However, the last scene in the movie has the risen Christ talking to his followers, the camera slowly moving in on the face of Christ, and finally we are left looking into the eyes of Jesus, a very powerful ending.
What a beautiful example for us – fix our gaze upon the eyes of Jesus, keeping our focus on him no matter what life brings…
“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Heb 12:2-3
“He does not take his eyes off the righteous; he enthrones them with kings and exalts them forever.” Job 36:7
“The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.” Prov 15:3
Open my eyes, O Lord, that I may see your glory.
Let my eyes look straight ahead.
“For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” Rev. 7:17
We are all on a journey through life, some of us closer to our final resting place than others. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Look into his eyes. Rely on Him, rest in the knowledge of Him. “He who dwells in the shelter of the most high will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Ps. 91:1
Do not grow weary and lose heart.
