“You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” Ps 16:11

I have never heard an audible voice speaking to me, but I know without a doubt that God is speaking to me. I came about this realization several years ago when I was going through a complete change in my temporal life. My wife, Ann, and I had just been able to purchase a house, something that we had wanted for a long time and our heavenly father had made possible.

We had just moved in, and I found out I had lost my job. I had no forewarning that this might happen. Of course I was concerned about being able to keep our home. But also I also had lots of time to sit down and open my Bible and read. I read it before in the mornings, but it was more of thing to check off on my daily schedule…not a lot of time spent doing it.

Now I had lots of time and I started noticing things that I had never noticed before. I read more and started keeping a journal of what I found, what it was saying. My God was speaking to me; he had gotten my attention. Things were, are, happening in my life that I give him all the credit. He is teaching me new things, giving me new insights, hope in all things…thanksgiving and praise.

The following are words that God has spoke to me recently on one of my journeys through his word. You will notice some words through familiar passages of the Bible that Lord spoke to me on this day. These words, phrases, passages jump off the pages, trigger responses in me.

“You are my Lord. Apart from you I have no good thing. You have assigned me my position and my cup; you have made my lot secure. Let the light of your face shine upon me, O Lord. I trust in the name of the Lord my God.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and staff, they comfort me. Nothing can separate me from you love.

The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear…the stronghold of my life. Of whom shall I fear. Your face do I seek. Teach me you way Lord. Lead me on a level path as I travel through my life.

Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear. Though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.

I will not fear though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam.

I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation

“With joy … I draw from the water from the wells of salvation,” your words that I cherish. I will rejoice in the Lord. I will be joyful in God my savior.

He is at my hand, I will not be shaken…my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices. My body will rest secure.

You have made known to me the path of life. You will fill me with joy in your presence.

Ps 16:8,9,and 11; Nu 14:8; Ps 3:6; 16:2; 20:7; 23:4; 27:3; 46:2; Isa 12:2; and Hab 3:18.

Our heavenly Father allowed us to keep our home, gave me a new job, something to do which is much better than I ever had before, but best of all, I am able to open up a dialog with Him!

Thank you O Lord for the situation in my life that you gave to me many years ago. You wanted to become more intimate with me, and I finally took the time to listen and talk with you. Thank you for the assurance that every day is made better by talking with you, using your direction to my life.
