“Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me; O LORD, be my help.
You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever.” Ps 30:10-12
What if the natural consequences of everything we did wrong turned up like bills in the mailbox?
David called out to God often for mercy. Take time to take stock of our own lives and reflect on how many times we may have blown it. If you are one of God’s children, he doesn’t keep a ledger writing down every incident where we have not measured up to what he wants, what we should strive for in our lives.
“God is love.” 1 John 4:8
“God is just.” 2 Thes 1:6
“The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him” Dan 9:9
I cry out to you O Lord. O hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
Out of the depths I cry to you.
my cry for mercy.
With you there is forgiveness.
I will exalt you, O Lord.
You lifted me out of the depths
O Lord my God, I called to you for help and you heard me, healed me.
Sing to the Lord … Praise be his holy name.
For your anger is but for a moment
Your favor is for a lifetime
Weeping may tarry
Might remain for a night,
But rejoicing comes in the morning
Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me
You have turned my mourning into dancing
Clothed me with gladness
O Lord, I will give thanks to you forever.
Ps 130, Ps 30
O Lord, the words of David are my prayer of supplication and thanksgiving to you. You know what I do right and what I do wrong. Sometimes I don’t even realize what I am doing is wrong. You forgive me, have compassion, you love me. Point out to me what I can do better, pick me up, dust me off and help me to go on.
